Yamaha TZ125 VP4 Front + PMA Shock Conversion
      Ohlin Forks

Below is brief description of what's involved. Our quotes are fixed for forks and shocks which are off the bike. Any additional work that may be required will be quoted/advised.

fork service

Fully disassemble and clean all parts including shims, valves and adjusters. Refill oil to correct level. Worn seals, bushes, chrome plating are additional. See Maintenance Article for applicable service periods and Damping and Oils for the importance of oil and its usage in suspension performance.

fork revalve & service

Full Service as above. Revalved compression and rebound shimstacks to suit rider style, type of riding, rider feel, rider weight and load carried, and includes dive control circuit. Revalving standard parts matches damping to springs; delivering good results with our individualised setup giving a big improvement over stock. See Project ZED and Suspended Animation for revalving results.

showa conversion kit comp & rebound

We convert your standard inverse bending pistons or big port Showa pistons using the Showa four port pistons. These pistons are similar to what is used in many sportbikes, e.g. CBR1000/600 etc. By using these pistons you can achieve a better hi-speed feel due to the port size being better suited to the faster roadbike/ride-day applications and still remove harshness.

  provalve damping control kit
reb. mod, service & set-up
Conventional damping systems (damper tube) have many shortcomings, excessive dive, harshness, very poor traction feel. All of these problems can be corrected with our exclusive shimstack driven Provalve high performance damping kit. Because of our multi-stage shimstack configuration, we can separately control dive rate, lo/mid and hi speed compression damping all in one easy to install kit. When fitted with the correct spring and rebound modifications as outlined in our instructions Your conventional fork set will be more than a challenge for the very best sportsbike. See Hold That Road and Serious Suspension for provalve results.

  Provalve

  road/rideday PMA VP3 conversion *
20mm VP3 Compression valve and standard rebound mod. including dive control. All the benefits of a much better compression valve and modified rebound to suit the spring.

  sports/rideday PMA VP3 *
20mm VP3 Compression and Rebound valves + service and set-up. The best damping range for road and track day work, use your adjusters for road feel versus track.

PMA VP3 + VP4 Fork and Shock valves
race bike conversion PMA VP4 *
20mm VP4 Racebike Compression and Rebound valves + service and set-up. Compounded sports tyres or slicks need the latest technology in valve design and shimstack configuration for best brake and turn-in control without harshness. Adjusters can be reset for firm roadwork. * For best results, our PMA VP3 and VP4 road bike tunable port pistons give any rider/bike combination the feel and control for wide range damping touring plushness or narrow focus racebike precision due to the ability to modify port dimensions to suit the application; allowing a broad range of motorcycle types and riding styles to be accommodated and giving far greater scope for tuning.

fork lowering and service

Price includes full service as above. Lowering is done internally (front and rear) to maintain handling characteristics. How much a bike can be lowered before handling and safety become an issue is dependent on bike design and application. For info on your particular make and model call for advice on 03 9574 1164.
Note: The lowering process is reversible, should you wish to change it back in the future.

Below is a brief description of what's involved. Our quotes are fixed for forks and shocks which are off the bike. Any additional work that may be required will be quoted/advised.

shock service

Dismantle and reassemble shock, check all components for wear or damage and replace and/or repair where necessary. Re-oil and re-gas. See Maintenance Article for applicable service periods and Damping and Oils for the importance of oil and its usage in suspension performance.

shock revalve and service

Many shock settings are harsh with limited damping range. Not enough happens early in the bump cycle to slow and control the bikes progress over dirt surfaces. We modify your shock to build in smooth, plush feel and give you the ability to control your bike and improve confidence. See Project ZED and Suspended Animation for published results. We dismantle &  reassemble shock, checking all components for wear or damage & replace and repair parts where necessary. We then revalve according to rider application, riding style and weight.

    Shock rebuild

shock service non-rebuildable

Dismantle and reassemble shock, check all components for wear or damage and replace and/or repair where necessary. Re-oil and re-gas. We convert your shock to fully rebuildable.
Over the years we have not yet found a shock that we can't rebuild. Most modern shocks (let's say from late 80's) are able to be converted into a re-buildable and fully serviceable shock. Some require machining to have them opened and then we install clips and regas valve to complete the job.

  PMA 40/46 shock conversion
Modern sportsbikes have many compromises to shock design. With our exclusive piston design, we are able to maximise feel and control for all modern sports and touring bikes. We can tailor port dimensions to give just the right feel for any linkaged rear suspension design. PMA Shock conversion includes revalve and service and set-up.

  shock flow valve
Increased stability by controlling rear suspension on off throttle and cornering forces.

Dismantle and reassemble shock, check all components for wear or damage and replace and/or repair where necessary. Re-oil

twin shock damping mods

We dismantle &  reassemble shock, checking all components for wear or damage and replace and repair parts where necessary. We then revalve and modify the pistons according to rider application, riding style and weight.

Subject - Bike Lowering and Handling
(e-mail to ProMechA 24 Mar 2010)

  Peter
I have been meaning to let you know what a great result we have had.
It was nearly a month ago we brought my wife’s Triumph Daytona 675 to you with the hope that you might be able to do something to make it more pleasurable to ride. With the bike lowered by a lowering link and the already rock hard standard suspension, my wife was quickly losing confidence in the bike as at 60kgs she was not exactly getting a comfortable or confidence inspiring ride.
The lowering was causing plenty of problems with the handling not to mention frequently being tossed out of the seat on minor irregularities in the road surface by the too hard suspension set up.
Leaving the bike with you for a day has had results we could only have dreamed of.
Re-valving and correct spring rates have been the best modification we could have ever made.
Now that my ham fisted suspension setting technique has been ditched in favour of listening to what you say and taking time to get it right my wife has renewed confidence in her riding and is once again enjoying every ride.
Lowering the bike only a small amount has created its hassles as she would ideally like it lower, but she is learning to live with it as the benefits to handling have been so great that she doesn’t want to change it.
Thank you Peter it has been the best money we have ever spent on a bike.

Regards

Colin & Jennifer
